Can you determine the manufacture date of DFX by the first 4 numbers in the serial #?

I am new to metal detecting and looking to purchase a DFX on ebay. I had heard there is a way to determine the manufacture date of the metal detector by looking at the first 4 numbers in the serial #.

If that is true does anyone know how to decipher the code?

Thanks
