Can you detect a small gold chain in the disc mode?

I've only found one gold chain, a very thin one, but I found it with my 505 in disc with disc turned completely counter clockwise so I was hearing everything. It showed up as a nickle.

That is saying a lot for the 505.

Thank's for the information.

What size coil did you have? Did you check to see how much distance you could get with an air test?

I found a tiny gold chain that had no catches one either end with a Compadre.

I had the disc turned all the way down. I can only detect this chain at 3" max with the Compadre.

I always thought that it would only pick up on the heavier catches on the ends.

This video show's other wise.

I had my buddy at the pawn shop varify that this chain is a 10k gold chain.

HH,

cool

Maybe it is not as small as you are talking about, but I found this gold chain 4" down two weeks ago and it hit as foil. The white 18k gold ring also hit on foil both with the iron notched out with my Ace 250.

Tabdog, I was using the 4"coil with sens. at 3 o'clock. At those settings it will air test 4 1/2" with a good signal. With the sens at max it will air test 5 1/2". Signals at both settings was a good repeatable signal. With the 8" coil and max sens. the 505 will air test 7 1/2". A merc dime was used for the test.
