Can You Date This Spoon???

Erik in NJ

New member
This spoon appears to be made of pewter (?) and is crumbling. I may have broken the handle during recovery, but didn't realize it until I cleaned it with soap and water - hope to recover the remainder someday (ame site as I dug the colonial flat button). It's by far the oldest looking spoon I've dug to date. Does the area where the handle is joined to the spoon part give any clues as to its age or origin. The handle portion that's left is round and it's relatively large being bigger than a typical tablespoon. Thanks for any info.

I would love to date your spoon, but she is a major prude....:wiggle:...Your spoon was a 2 piece design, which means it is old...I do not know how old though...I am sure someone here knows
