Can we revisit coils again?

I want to add a small coil to my collection. I think I will sell my 10x12 SEF and use the 10" Tornado for my big coil. I have a 8" Coinsearch coil that I have been using for my small coil but I feel a smaller one yet is needed. Some of my area's are loaded with junk target's and I get 3-5 hit's per swing of the coil. I am considering an S-5 or even a Tornado 800 which I understand to be 71/4". So, Is 3/4 of an inch enough to make a difference (from the coinsearch) to be considered a small coil or would I still be getting 3-5 hit's per swing? Also would the 800 have more depth than the coinsearch? I understand that the 800 has more depth than the S-5. I would like to get the best depth I can with good seperation. I may have to sacrifice some depth to get good seperation. With all the junk in some of these area's I'm thinking a lot of people got frustrated and went to easier spot's and left some good target's that aren't so deep. That's my reasoning for sacrificing some depth to get good seperation.
Good hunting Gary

If you have the 8 inch coinsearch i feel you don't have to have a smaller coil myself. The S-5 is good too for the areas that is solid trash as it will pick up a few that have been missed, but with the 8 inch Coinsearch I found I could do just as well. The S-8 now can go a bit deeper and feels it may separate a bit better, but I feel you may have to swing it a bit slower as the signals are not as long as the coinsearch which make the coinsearch easier to hear.
To me the coils I like are the 8 inch coinsearch, the S-8, the 10 inch Tornado coil and the S-12. I tried many others, but these seem to be the ones I feel do the best for me.

Thank's Rick and Art. I was kinda leaning toward's that direction myself but I needed to hear it from some Pro's like you two. I have a tendency to get a little excited when I'm in an old area and start to swing a little faster than I should. I also take fairly short swing's so those 3-5 hit's on a swing may sound worse than it really is. Thank's again for your input.
Stay warm, Gary

Gary,I like the 10 inch Tornado its a great coil. With trashy parks in my area the old BBS 800 coil has worked very well for me.In trash I like this coil better than the 8 inch Coin Search.I think this coil gets a bad rap performance wise. The Sovereign will null out on signals but it blends very well on targets also that don't null out.The 177 ID that ends with a 180 usually two coins together which is very common to blend targets in lots of trash. The small S-5 probably works extremely well in hyper trashy areas.Keep as many coils in your tool box for different situations.By the way I used the 10x12 SEF coil on the Explorer and just didn't like the balance or the way it pinpointed. Hi Ron. I also like the 10" Tornado coil. It's easy to swing, goes deep enough and pinpoints well. That's the coil I was using when I found that nice SLQ and the two Barber dimes. I also found two Barber dimes with the SEF coil. I do find the SEF a little heavy and it has a feeling of awkwardness. But didn't think the pinpointing was too bad. I haven't had a chance to use the BBS 800 coil. Thank's for your response. Our blizzard is heading in your direction stay safe.

Gary, the wind has picked up here and temps are dropping.LOL I think you are right the big storm is comming. Thanks Ron

If money is no problem; get an S-5 and go low and slow. For area's where there are hit's close
together try raising the coil to get better separation and pin-point. After you go over the area
with the small coil go back with a larger coil and get the deeper stuff that the small coil was not
able to reach. If the area is old you will have a lot of hunting there by useing this method and
should find some old keeper's. The object is to find what is there not to see how fast you can cover
the area. LOW AND SLOW in old area's = OLD TREASURE'S. HH
