Can the X-1 probe damage the electronics in the control housing???

I've wondered about the way we mount the Probe on the upper rod. I've inserted mine into the cradle several times with the coil end facing the control box prior to flipping the switch.
Can the field off the probe tip damage the electronics? How close is a "safe" distance for the probe and Control box.
I was thinking this because I know computer chips dont tolerate magnetism well and I beleive the field comming off the probe is sorta like a magnetic field????
Hope this isn't a stupid question...just trying to forward my knowledge of electronics.

Hi Steve; darn good question and we should all be interested in the responses. At one time or another I'm sure we all have left the switch in the probe position which means the probe is transmitting siginals. Can it cause damage...who knows, we'll just have to wait. Perhaps the people at ML can give us a definite answer. Thanks for asking, I never would have thought of it. I highly doubt it.. Its sends out RF and not a magnetic field, It might create a magnetic field some how, but it would be so weak it surely wouldnt hurt electronics.. I wouldnt worry about that.. your computer monitor creates a magneic field and lots of them sit right on top of your computers electronics
