Can the Etrac do this?

I've watched this video a few times now and also the video on how to setup the Etrac to hunt in iron, parts 1& 2. So I'm somewhat familiar with settings on the Etrac. Now this video shows a Deus picking up a coin with iron on either side of it. The thing is is that the iron is about an inch higher. Once this happens the Etrac cannot see the coin. I've done the test while changing all the settings. It won't find the coin. Here's the video.......https://youtu.be/gGwqHyUSUI8

Because you can’t set the FE line position on the eTrac it’s possible to miss something in that situation. The tester did not specify with the CTX at what point he had the FE line set,it must be in the 32 range amid nails for both targets to show up as separate low/high tones. Even then, all machines will miss something. The Deus appears to be very adept at relic hunting, cellar hole hunting, etc while the FBS/FBS2 is more geared toward coin hunting(at least that’s what I’ve found them to be good at). There will always be two camps, like Chevy vs Ford. In all reality they are both really good at what they do. If a guy had both then the bases would be covered!:)

Good call on that one, IDX.

I tried this same test using the CTX in combined tones and the Deus with 9" coil using full tones. Target was a clad dime. Same settings as the guy in the video, except that sensitivity was lowered due to EMI in my house. With the CTX, the coin starts chirping once the ferrous line hits 28. At 30 the target is clear with accurate ID and high tone. However there was also some falsing going on once the fe line got to 28, so the machine can be tricky to use in iron trash at those levels. The Deus definitely hit the target better, but the iron was dragging the ID down to a level that I might not dig unless I was digging all or most non ferrous targets. A good example of what these machines do well, and not as well.

As far as target separation comparison videos go- there are a number of machines that are just plain faster than the CTX, which is probably the reason why the minelab ends up in almost every single separation video out there. ;) It will probably be showing up in a new round of target separation videos when the speedy Equinox hits the streets.

If your interested in hunting cellar holes and digging all none ferrous targets try this test with the deus. Change to the pitch tones run hertz to 600 or wide open with the plus key , set disc at 10 and run iron vol on 1 or 2 and reactivity 2 or 3.. the deus will really shine here for pulling non ferrous from iron.

Richard..no joy with a completely open screen in multi tone Conductive? I’m just referring to 2 Tone Ferrous and the users inability to move the FE line lower than 17. With the CTX you can...because the signal will be very high on the Ferrous side in that situation, while using the CTX the Ferrous line must be moved way down running Combined tones,or run in a completely open pattern in 50 tones. JME...

The nails elevated above a coin is more intune with what i encounter while detecting than the popular nail board test.

There's a few of the machines i've had that do well at it, Deus, Signum and the Rutus was probably best, as you can sweep real slow between the iron to pickout the good stuff.

I couldn't find a setting on the Etrac to pass this test, but i'm in no way an experienced user in iron with the Etrac either.
