Can the cam locks be replaced

This just started today the cam lock that hold my bottom shaft in place is not tighten up anymore. Do I have to buy a new upper shaft to get this fixed? Or is there a way replace this? Any help would be grateful thanks Spark

I saw a video on MLOTV.com forum last year, it was rather simple if you can buy the replacement red pads somewhere. the upper shaft and lower shaft pads are different sizes and make sure you haven't lost the metal backing plate under the red compression pad. this was also a subject on this forum a couple of times in the past year.Good luck

I had a similar problem when the little metal plate that's under the cam fell out. I was fortunate that it happened in my house and it was right on the floor where it fell. I put some super glue on it and put it back into place. It's been working well ever since.

I sure that what I'm missing it worked great this Morin.. Thanks for your help and info Spark

My metal plate came off too in the field. I called ML USA and they sent me a new red thingy for free. I put a little sliver of wood in there to make the cam tighten down while I was waiting. Just tap the pin out - slip the old one out and the new one in.

I did an in field emergency repair on a friends E-Trac, just a wrap of electrical tape around the spot where she usualy set her lower shaft and that made it tight enough to hold, she used it that way for a few months until I got her to call Minelab and they took care of it right away for her.

just replaced my upper "rubber bumber" Minelab sent me a new one free. For some reason though, it still wiggles a bit where it enters the control box. Anyone else have this issue? Got a fix for it?

After calling around asking if anyone had cam locks in stock they all told me I had to call minelab. I called Minelab abut this and they told me to send it back and they would fix it. So I bought a new shaft and now going to send this one back today.

Spywiz I think I would try the electrical tape just so it doesn't wiggle and mess something else up.

Happened to me too. I used it for 7 months and finally called Minelab and told them I needed a new red rubber/plastic piece that goes in the cam lock. They mailed it to me, then I realized that it was actually the stainless steel rectangle attached to the rubber/plastic piece that had fallen off.

Add another metal tab on top of existing one. This will apply additional pressure on the shaft to prevent slipping out. Did it on my
E-trac, haven't had the problem since. NeilJ
