Can someone tell me if the Tejon has a deeper depth of detection than the ...................

Vaquero. I have seen posted messages stating that the Tejon is the deepest seeking detector in the Tesoro metal detector line, now a few people are claiming that the Vaquero is just as deep seeking...now these same people are claiming that the Cibola is in the same league as the Tejon and Vaquero. Somewhere I have seen a posted message stating that the Tejon has more "gain" than the Vaquero, whatever "gain" means, but I assume it means it has more detecting power. Can someone explain this in simple terms if possible? I suspect that there are many others that are also confused over some of what is being said, wonder how much of it is hyped up statements for the purpose of selling metal detectors. Any help would be appreciated. Kelley (Texas)

Rose, gain is an internal setting that acts as a pre amp to the recieve circuit to the detector, it is set at maximum gain at all times on the Tejon. Some say that the Tejon's gain is set to the highest setting of any Tesoro on the market .. therefore giving it that extra boost in depth.
Where others are stating that the new technology of the Vaquero and Cibola is getting the same results thru digital processing.
I have all 3 detectors, I prefer the manual GB of the Tejon and Vaquero over the Cibalo just because it leaves no doubt what kind of ground I'm hunting in when I set it up to hunt .. especially at a new site.
From what I've seen so far in comparison, the Vaquero is every bit as good depth wise in air test and in the dirt as the Tejon. The Tejon does seem to hit the teeny tiny brass better in disc but can't say that for certain yet (only time will tell).
I don't like feeding the Animals 8 AA battery appetite but for the performance it's worth it. I LOVE the dual disc on the Tejon when I coin shoot with it and prefer the trigger over a push button pinpointer ... just feels natural.
The Cibalo has only been with me for less than 2 weeks so I can't say much about it yet but it is a sweet turn and go detector. I've ran across a few targets that it would not hit on that the Vaquero did but given more hunt time with it ... that might change too. I should have got the V and the C with the same tones but my Vaquero has the stock tone which I prefer by the way... it could be all MENTAL Maybe my Brains Gain is set to low.

that I need to sit down with my local dealer and see if he will spend the time explaining this new digital technology with me. I have been using a Bandido II uMax for the last six years, and also have a Silver Sabre uMax that I have yet to use...both of which evidently are now considered old technology. I am a causal user of a metal detector, thus I lack the metal detector knowledge that the more dedicated relic hunter has aquired through the saturated heavy use of a metal detector. I became interested in the Vaquero when some folks mentioned that the depth of detection was on par with the Tejon...plus the control panel of the Vaquero is similiar to my Bandido II uMax.
I think the best thing for me to do is to visit with the local dealer, put a Vaquero in my hands, and see if I like it. After that, if I need to ask a question, I can again approach this Forum...and I will not appear so ignorant, nor waste other's time. Mike, thanks for responding to my question. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)

Better Yet ! It only takes a few minutes and a few pennies well spent to call Tesoro and ASK a technician or you might get lucky and speak to Mr. Gifford himself (not uncommon). Nothing like hearing from people that shoot truth straight from the hip.
And you're right about putting a detector in your own hands .. nothing equals that approach
