Can someone install a better E-trac backlight?

Hi friends. Looking for someone who can install a better backlight or EL panel in my E-trac. Been searching all over to no avail. Minelab and Kellyco both said no.

I'll take one for my Explorer also please....

Do keep in mind the "big numbers" option if you're using the digital screen and can't quite see them efficiently.

I don,t think minelab wants to make so you can see the screen or you won,t want to buy the over price 3030 ... Which I wouldn't buy anyway

the screen on the 3030 is actually worse.............

Screen visibility is so bad on the E-Trac I must admit I'm questioning my purchase. I can see the big numbers but the depth indicator is nearly impossible. And the backlight? I Outdoors I can't even tell when it's on. I didn't have this issue with my X-Terra. This reflects poorly on MInelab. Why build a powerful detector and then add such a poor display?

Screen glare and poor screen contrast are sadly 'trademarks' of Minelab metal detectors.
They keep on designing detectors with these cr@ppy LCD displays. My $49 land line phone has a better display.

bad screen or no screen....still the best damned tector out there......!!!!!!

Yes ...I agree ..I have had them all....v3i...xp dues ...racer 2 ...fishers...keep going back to the "E" ....still have racer tho...iron cutter....but come on minelab listen to what people want.....are you afraid something might happen to the 3030 if you made the screen on the "E" so you could actually see it ? Don't tell us you can't do it were not idiots ...bite the bullet and do it ....damn! ....we are your customers.... Don't you care?

just pull it apart and put a brighter globe (LED) in there...

mine is fine though. but I am looking through my eyes. maybe one day it wont be.

and really you are asking minelab to listen :lmfao: its minelab they don't have to listen...

I know they won't listen. We have been asking for a lighter detector for years and they answer with the 3030:heh:. Had to move from my Minelab to the Deus.

I helped mine a little by fiddling with the contrast. I also started wearing my +2.50 reading glasses when I detect. At least now I can see the depth meter better. Yea it's a awesome device. I just don't understand why someone in the product testing phase didn't bring these screen issues to the engineers attention, or if they did, why it wasn't addressed. Maybe the lighting is different in Australia and it's not a problem down under?

Screen glare is a problem on all my machines. The sun is very bright here. Might try some uv screen protectors or a dust cover.

Can you imagine a V3i with etrac numbers.....color screen and all......but still have etrac menus....and no that wouldn't be a3030
