Hey Neil ...That one was on craigslist and I picked it up today. The detector is DOA. Took the batteries out and disassembled the battery housing to check the contacts and wires. All was ok..getting power coming out of the battery pack but the detector is not turning on. Guess I have to send it to Garrett to get fixed. I do have a friend that is good with electronics , maybe let him look at it first.

Maybe it was underwater which would make it useless, but the coil is worth $40 or so!

I had a 1000 Ultra I bought a few years back, maybe 4, and it arrived with so much damage it was pathetic. The screen was shot, battery leakage, really sad. I boxed it up, shipped it to Garrett. $40 and two weeks later, I had a new looking 1000. Was a good deal to me!!

Yeah it's and old 350 with Treasure eye pinpointing. Not to bad of a machine. The Treasure Eye drove me nuts. HAA.

Bill

May try holding the power button in for 10 seconds that does a reset on the detector i had to do that with the one i have when i first received it....Good luck...Markmac

The 350 and the 400 were the same in every way except the 350 was two piece at the handle, and would wobble when move side to side. The 400 was a solid one piece handle.

Why even bother getting it fixed? You can send it in to Garrett and get 40% off the list price of a brand new metal detector!:garrett::detecting:Happy Hunting!:)

I took the control housing apart last night and didn't see any wires broken off. Talked to lady at Garrett and she said send it in. They will give me an estimate before the repairs are done. So I shipped today and see what happens. Would be a good machine for my nephew.
