Hi, would like to know if the 10X14 Excelerator coil indeed has more depth than the explorer stock coil.

thanks

Hi JBTN, I don't have one either,
but there is a rule of the thumb method that enables you to "approximate" an elliptical coils performance by adding the width measurement to the length measurement, then divide by 2...
IE. 10" + 14" = 24"... Divided by 2 = 12",
so this would suggest that it would perform similar to a 12" round coil...

I don't know if this works for a FBS ~ 28 frequencies coil.

I thought I'd share it anyway!

Yes it does. Plus, in my iron-laden soil, I can run a higher sensitivity setting, and cover more ground per sweep, There is only one thing I don't like about it.
It is H E A V Y. But if your detecting arm is as big around as a 200 year old oak tree, you should be fine.
Also.....you will need an intra-muscular injection of 200ccs of adrenaline every two hours while using this coil. But your body will adjust to the weight. Someone asked me today if we were Siamese twins joined at the shoulder. To avoid comments like this you will need to switch arms every five minutes (if you can last that long) while using this coil. Did I mention that this coil is heavy? I couldn't even use my 10x14 coil today, because my regular crane operator was out of town. My friend in Atlanta has a 10x14 too.
Every time he goes out on one of his exhausting 2 minute hunts, he tells me what a great coil it is. All kidding aside though, it really does what it was designed to do. Make your arm three times it's normal size while finding those deeeeeep coins. One advantage to using this coil, is that after a while, you can slice through those 6 inch diameter tree roots in one whack. Good luck.......Oh yeah.....Hope to see ya at the World Arm Wrestling Championship in Petaluma California, next year...

And I hunted on that Black sand beach for 4 hours a day for quite a few weeks. It will hit targets at 14"s with correct ID. Loves dimes on edge or anything on edge. Excellent on the small gold. It don't false when you scrape the wet salt sand. I drug it on the wet salt sand and it worked perfect no falsing like the M/L coils. Excellent coverage. I could run the Sen. at 26 even in the black salt water sand and it was excellent even down at the waters edge. So  on the 10X14 Excellerator coil. Just get you a Swingy thingy from Doc out in Nevada. You are good to go and can hunt a long time with it. I love mine and that is what I use at the beach when I use my SE. Beats the hell out of the M/L coils. :D: :D: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

If you use a HIPSTICK with your BUNGEE, you won't know you are holding any weight at all. The hipstick makes as much difference again as the bungee does. I have the WOT 15" coil and the X-1 probe and ended up with RSI of the right elbo, so bad i had to learn how to swing with my left arm, it took 12 months to get right, but now i use the hipstick. The hipstick and bungee should come with the Explorer in my opinion. When i just used the bungee, i got a sore neck and shoulder, after about 3hrs, now i can go for 6-7 hrs at a time, and i am 65. I live in Australia, and have no ties with this product, i just think it is bloody terrific. You blokes can buy them for $25, they are $65 over here. Buy one of these and you will be in heaven. HH. And why there is "Pro" in the name ?

Could cover some more details (from my POV since I'd rather build than buy one) but this shows you what it is and how it works. Sort of.

Sorry Fellers, Should have said to look up Google search for Hipstick.. Thank you Black X for picking this up. HH. Bob

I would like to see a better visualization on how it works. I don't see how it connects to the hip, It appears to transfer weight via the shoulders to the body just like the swingy thingy. I have used the swingy thingy for a couple of years, and it allows me to detect for hours with a big coil. And I have played around with the Bigg Lugg hook several times. Let's see some more illustration for the hipstick. Not trying to disparage the product, as I am also trying to perfect a modified system, but, I am not convinced......maybe I should be from Missouri....show me.

..just like the Bigg Lugg. I couldn't find it on Home Depot--only turned up a couple of toilet bowls--but found Bigg Lugg's site via google. The shoulder attachment is only to keep the rod restrained vertically, not to support weight. When I first read about it, someone was describing doing something to help keep the bungee on top of the stick but I haven't been able to find it since.

I can sympathize with that! I've been laid out from work half of the past two weeks because of back problems. I thought it was probably related to detecting but it didn't seem to be from the detector weight since the pain was symmetrical. It was warm yesterday and I was feeling better, so I did a little testing. Turns out I'm pretty sure it's from bending over digging without supporting my upper-body weight. So I switched to using kneeling on one knee and supporting my upper body weight w/ the other knee. That seems to have been it since I feel better today than I have in weeks!
