Can somebody explain what I'm reading about the 6 inch coil?

The coil is slow? Also, doesn't the myriad of coil shapes and sizes available for an E-Trac give the E-trac an advantage with target separation in heavy trash over the stock coil for the CTX 3030?

I think what they mean is that with a coil that small it takes longer to cover the same size yard as it would with the bigger stock coil. The advantage of a smaller coil is that it's able to handle trashy areas better because it is less likely to have to process multiple targets, therefore giving you better target separation. The stock coil for the CTX is 11" with both the 6" and 17" coil available aftermarket.

Nothing slow at all about the 6" coil except ground coverage as with any other 6" coil. With the much faster recovery of the CTX the 6" coil separates quite a bit better than a Sunray 5" coil on my E-Trac in my tests.
The CTX hits a 9" silver dime in my test garden so it is quite deep as well....

Great post!

I got a chance to try the 6" coil a few weeks ago at a club outing in heavy iron and was very impressed. It hit the targets just as hard as the 11" and was able to wiggle into the tight spot around tree roots, etc.
