can it be fixed

Yes no worries.
Attach support pieces (PVC will do) to both lugs on the outside surface.
Best adhesive for the job: LOCTITE 406.

I think MINELAB should be responsible for replacing or fixing these coils that break!!!!...After all, we pay good money for these
detectors. You think they should would use the proper plastic when making the coil housing. I think a $200 plus coil should
be made to last... Never had this trouble on a Whites Coil!!!!!

"Never had this trouble on a Whites Coil!!!!!"

You've been lucky Duggr or perhaps you aren't as hard on equipment as some of us?

Craig PI and I both have broken the ears on our Dual Field coils!

When it happens the repair methods described above can save you the cost of a new coil and have you back in the water in a short time.

Hope you never have this problem, but schtuff happens,

CJ

PS A closer look at the broken part sure looks like it was not made very strong. In my book these things must be at least twice as sturdily made as this one!!

This repair has over a hundred hours of hard hunting on it during which I brace myself on the detector coil and shaft to maintain my ballance and it is still going strong!!

The parts are glued on with Goop and allowed to cure overnight.

The plastic electral tape and ties with no metal parts add strength to the repair and I preferred to use a nylon cutting board as the brace/bracket.

It ain't pretty, but it works for me,

Take it to a body shop, they have Nitrogen plastic welders for plastic repair. Should cost you about 30 dollars.
