Can I use White's shaft parts with an Excalibur?

I have a straight rod (Anderson travel shaft ) for a Dual Field somewhere here, and I am wondering if the Excalibur bottom shaft fits in White's components... It might make for a nice straight shaft if I chest mount the Excal...

Yes, I use the White's tallman lower shaft on one of my excaliburs, fits perfect, all I had to change out were the rod ends.

Did you have much trouble taking out the MInelab bottom part? It seems to be glued on...

Hey OBN, so you have been using the Whites tall man fiber rod in the water a lot? Hows it holding up over time? I use them on my light weight land shaft and use the stock GT shaft as my water rig, but a few times (maybe 6 total) over the last two years I've waded with my land shaft when I changed my mind and decided to hunt the water and not just the dry beach.

Thus far the tall man rod has held up fine, and that's even swinging the 15x12 or 12x10 which are a good bit more drag in the water than the 10" Tornado I keep on the stock shaft for normal water hunts. Just curious if you've had any issues with the tall man fiber rod over time in water use as far as durability goes?

When I first got the tall man rods (I bought two for fast coil swapping), I tried flexing them sideways to see how they compared to the stock heavy fiberglass GT lower shaft. Even though they are about twice the length they seems to be just as strong sideways pressure wise as the stock shaft, or at least were if I tried to bend the same length on them as the stock lower rod to compare that. Can't remember.

Despite the extra drag of the SEFs in the water, at least thus far they've held up fine. I've also banged them around a good bit in the woods and no problems with them thus far. I think when I bought them they were only $10 a piece from Whites, which was an outstanding deal, just like the $10 they charge for that super light heavy duty arm cup. Now the tall mans are $20 I think but still worth every penny IMO to drop weight. Best part is you can then cut down the length of your upper shaft to save even more weight.

They came with the two headed snap adjustment pin but not washers, but I needed two pairs anyway to span the gap of the less wide Whites coil mount. Used faucet washers from a home improvement store. Cheap. Just drill out the center of them to fit the bolt.

I like the stock shaft for water because the weight doesn't matter then, but man you couldn't pay me to use it on land. Also hated the stock grip so I ditched that on the stock shaft for a bike end bar and a gel grip. Like night and day.

You have to drill out the Whites screws right?

Yes, I drilled out the white's and got new plastic pins for the excalibur rod end after drilling them for the pins.

And on the Minelabs lower rod ends....I took and marked off 2 inchs up the rod, cut around the full circumference of the rod, then I made 2 cuts length wise on each side. Took a flat head screw driver and pryed around the openings. This weaken the rod end glue and I was able to break it away from the shafts.

Critter, each I have about 30 hunts in with no problems, but this is wetsand only, I prefer a short shaft for better coil control in the ruffer waters..The Long Reachers are Hell on your shoulders the first couple days, from making such a wide swing. But really give you a edge over the other hunters, special when you have about 8 blocks of beach that really gives durng the summer and the best hunting time is with in a certain time frame.
