Can I use a GARRETT CROSSFIRE II 12 1/2" COIL

I have a Garrett Ace 250 and I have an opportunity to buy a Garrett Crossfire II 12 1/2" coil. I am told it is for a Ace 250 Pro Machine. Will it work on my Ace 250 that doesnt say pro on it. Would I be better off on the beach with the 12 x 14. I do 99% beach hunting in both wet and dry. Any help is appreciated.

Crossfire won't fit the 250. There are three coils available for the 250, the 6.5x9, the 9x12, and the 4.5 Sniper. There is a 10x14 DD after market coil available from Kellyco for the 250 if you hunt in highly mineralized ground.

I've never heard of this Ace 250 Pro either and I don't think that seller really knows what they're talkin' about. I did use the Crossfire2 searchcoils on my Ace, though. The plug is the same and they work great. The Ace 250 is 6.5 kHz and the Crossfire2 searchcoils are made for machines with 7.2 kHz, but I never had any problems with it and actually preferred using the 8.5" Crossfire2 searchcoil on the Ace 250 becuase it pinpoints easier/better. I use that 10"x14" Excellerator that's made for the Ace 250 on my old GTAx 1250 which is a 7.2 kHz machine. It works great. Am I damaging my machines in the long run by using a searchcoil made for a slightly different frequency?:shrug:Maybe, but I doubt it. You will really love that 10"x14" Excellerator on your Ace 250!:detecting:It's awesome!:garrett:Best of luck to ya! Happy Hunting!:)
