I asked earlier about how to get permission to hunt new sites and you guys(and gals) came up with some good ideas. One that I really liked was the idea of a business card.

Here's where I need help, I am not the most creative guy, but maybe if we work together we can get a couple of ideas together and maybe even come up with a generic card that we all could use, and just change the personal information.

I hope this is not the wrong forum. Maybe I should post it in one or two others.

Thanks in advance

This is something I will plan to do. I have a set of do-it-yourself business cards for my printer.

"Joseph J. Darkhart"
"Urban Archaeologist"
"State of California"
"Long Beach Division"

"Phone: 562 555 1234'

I may add more info..but that is an off the top of my head beginning.

Giving your telephone number to strangers can produce some erratic and downright filty calls from sick minds......
Last time I sold a used car had my home number on it and might suggest a work number or perhaps a USPS P.O. box for your contact..I like the idea of a card but not at the expense of my wife getting offbeat calls....

I think a generic business card for us to use is a great idea. Maybe someone has a cool MD logo we could use?

As far as putting a phone # on, that's really a personal call, a work # is a good option for privacy and an email address would be a good option as well.

So does it really make a big difference..Not for the purpose of an argument.......just thought it might be an overlooked point.

I think what I was trying to do was to get as much information as possible in as few words as possible.
To explain what I do and to help put them at ease and thought the card would help.

thank you all for your input,

Pull tab,no matter what you put on a card its not going to help put people at ease.Ask yourself this question would you like some stranger walking around your yard digging holes. The land or home owner has everything to lose and nothing to gain.Example I have boarder's who work off board and sometime they forget to shut a gate and if the horses get out they run up and down a public road, this could cause a death or injury.Watch CNN kidnapings murder 99.9 percent of people are not going to let you search their property, card or no card your a stranger.I wouldn't let anyone search my place with a knock at the door an introduction and a card.I think the rules manufacturer's put in their manuals about ethic's of hunting have to be followed.Like them or not these simple rules will help our hobby survive.Bottom line another rule should be added don't ask home owners to search their property.Sorry but it is what it is a bad idea.
