Now before i start i would like too say a few things. I run the Explorer XS and From what i have read and heard the Explorer/E-trac series is built on the same FBS format etc but just a little faster as far as responce time and please correct me if I'm wrong now i know coil selection and program selection is a plus now what I'm about too say may be just what i call "luck" but everytime i hunt with my buddy he finds deep silver such as walkers, reales, etc with his E-trac now he uses the 10x12 excelerator coil and never changes and he uses factory settings with a little tweeking. I'm useing my explorer XS with the stock 1050 coil which i like alot. I traded a new pro coil for a 6 inch excellorater coil i like alot and use it for junky or trashy areas but for those deep signals i recently purchased a 10x12 butterfly coil from PastorBob now will i get the same results? or is it just luck of the metal detctorist with his detector I scratch my head every time he pulls DEEP silver any input is appreciated. Thank You sasquache (Paul)

Thank you Chuck once i get the 10x12 coil i will be checking his signals just too see if there is a difference :)

The SEF 10X12 is an exceptional coil . I think you will definitely notice a difference . Targets hit sharp and clear . The only reason I got rid of mine was my tired old bones couldn't take the weight .

Thank You dirt doctor for your imput

Hey there. Last year I got an Explorer SE with the older 10" 1050 DD coil. I eagerly got out detecting and soon got an uneasy feeling about my "new" detector. I passed it off as just making my way thru the learning curve we all go thru with a new detector. I eventually did some research regarding the 1050 coil and discovered a lot of negative reviews. I knew before I got my Explorer SE I would love it and it would work great for me. Now it seems I'd discovered its weakest link. Many others were applauding the performance of the SEF coils on the Explorer SE. Since I've had many SEF coils on other detectors over the years and did great with them it was a no-brainer for me to get a couple for my Explorer SE. I got the 6X8 and the 10X12. I could not be happier with the results. Now I'm thinking of getting the 13" Ultimate DD coil for my Explorer SE. Once again I've had them in the past and was happy with the weight and performance. This has been my experience. GL and HH everyone. Matt

Sasquache you have very good coil and in my opinion you don't have to buy any more coils. Use manual sensitivity and keep coil low and you will found small, deep, shallow targets. I have tested allot coils to be confidant in original 1050 coil. Biggest problem with aftermarket coils that most of them are not perfect tuned for different ground condition.
