I'm sorry too be taking so much space on this very fine forum.
I have posted a lot lately, and I do appreciate your responses..BUT..I would imagine your getting tired of seeing my posts. I will try and stay off after this for awhile.
I have an M6 with 6x10 Eclipse coil 9.50 standard coil, and 8x14 inch Deep scan DD coil.
What would you use the 6x10 coil for, and same question on the 8x14 coil..........................Are they specialty coils for a specific reason, or general coils in the DD format( I think they are both DD) Not real sure of that..The Whites catalogue is not real clear on the frequency or the DD use of coils. What would some of you use these coils for, and what can I expect from the use of these coils..Just different ? or are they a better coil???
Thank you I really appreciate any thing you can tell me.....I have used an XLt for so long I am at a loss on all this new stuff.

Hi Elton, I'll post some coin hunt pics in a minute, But on your question, I have the M6 and stk, 6x10 eclipse and just got the 5.3 eclipse
For general hunting for coins and relics the stock coil is the deepest and most accurate. I don't have heavy mineral problems like some areas do ,so I can't really say much on that. When I go to a place that has close trash targets I'll usually go with the 6x10 , it has good side to side separation but will hit multiple targets lenthwise, so you may find yourself trying to rotate the coil to get a good signal on the iffy's.Today was the first hunt with the 5.3. I took it to a place I hunted thursday using the 6x10.Pulled alot more coins out and got a silver washington in the trash. The 5.3 is best for dense trash like in park environments, out of the three I have.I like depth ,so these are the best for depth in the kind of places I hunt.I ALWAYS run DISC on 0 or just off 0, and tones on most of the time, and max allowable sensitivity although it seems to hit better in middle search mode, but for parks and such I run tones. I had the super 12 but I didn't see a need for it for my type of hunting so I traded it for the 6x10, but its a nice coil and its light and well balanced on the M6. The 6x10 won't let you get real close to metal play ground fixtures, but the depth is worth the trade off for me., ..People don't mind questions because it helps keep everyone informed.. ..HH.. ladigger, there is that much difference between the 5.3 eclipse and the 6 x10 eclipse????gonna also try how your doing it with the sens. n discrim. as well..

There is another thing that's good about a concentric coil over the DD. You can scan your target in any direction standing still. No walking around the target.

If your ground is not mineralized the 9.5 will be your deepest coil over the 5.3 and 6x10. It also gives the most accurate depth reading and more positive VDI of the three. If the ground is mineralized the 6x10 would be a better choice allowing more gain to be used and it will cover more ground with each sweep. In the mineralized ground I believe the 6x10 would get the depth edge on the 9.5.

The 5.3 is a very good coil with depth close to the 9.5. In trash it's smaller footprint is an advantage. In mineralized soil a smaller coil has less of the soil under the coil and can usually run gain higher which offsets it's smaller size. A disadvantage would be that the concentric 5.3 requires more overlap to cover the ground. So if you have to cover more mineralized ground the 6x10 might be better.

You don't usually have to walk around to pinpoint a target with a DD coil. You can either use the "off the toe method" or just make a X 45 pattern instead of walking around athe target and making an + pattern. Rob
