Can anyone tell me how to get the red message to go away

when someone sends me a private message, I keep the red message at the top of the screen. No matter if I have read it a dozen times, responded to it ...whatever. I wish It would go away so I can tell if I have a NEW message.
 
I click on Forum Index to update the forums, but I would think F5 would work too. If you are still having problems, I would have to think that you are having a problem with your computer not refreshing with the latest data. Are you going "off line" to read your messages?
 
If you don't need to keep the messages maybe you can try deleting them after you've read/responded. Just a thought.

After reading all of your new messages, go to the MXT forum and press F5... If that fails, :throw: ...
