Can anyone identify this low country buckle?

Area is overlapped by colonial and Civil war and of course current. Please find before and after pictures. The hook is fixed. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find anything with fixed hook like this.

Isn't electrolysis a beautiful thing?
 
That clean-up is outstanding! Tell us about your method of electrolisis. How long did it take to get all the encrustation off?
