Can anyone ID this older Garretts detector?

Along with an ID, what can you tell me about it, its capabiliies, was this a decent detector?
Thanks.
Ken.

It's might be a TR or VLF/TR Master Hunter. About all you can get from that picture. Could be one of several models 1970-s-early 1980's.
Deep in VLF, still competitive today with many beep and dig machines. Disc mode not that great, depends upon soil conditions.
Threshold based. If in disc mode, there will be a threshold, when an item is rejected the threshold goes silent. Unlike modern motion machines silent search, you never know
when you go over a target that gets rejected.
Many of the old Garretts still work fine, many need repairs, bad pots, bad handle toggle switch, battery box, bad coil connectors, bad capacitors or other electronic part.
If in working condition without problems, it's still an excellent unit if your young with strong arms or not hunting for hours on end. It's heavy.
Just go to my website: http://www.treasurelinx.com/garrett.html and download the full version catalogs to get more info.

Yeah. Most hunted in a/m mode in promising sites, then switched to low discriminate to blank out iron targets and check the target . Reverse discrimination was popular and worked this way: After finding and pinpointing in a/m, the center of the coil was placed over the target. Then switching to disc. mode with coil on ground, if the sound increased, trash. If it went silent, possible good target. Good for deep targets.

Alrighty then, thank you both.
