Can anyone ID this coin?

Not much detail to go on. I posted two views of the front as one shows part of some lettering by the top of the head. I've seen some Connecticut coppers that look similar online but the reverse side looks to have a ribbon or pony tail? in the circled area. None of the coins I viewed had anyting in this area. Or is it just some crud builup?

There is a star on the 1787 coin in the circled area of your coin. Maybe there's 200 years of minerals built up around the star.

Although my coin is a little different than the ones you have posted (short neck on reverse and billowy/puffy sleeve?) I agree that it is probably a Connecticut copper. It looks like a C and O to me also. Problem is, there were over 350 die combinations made at 6 different mints. Maybe mine is a rare one worth thousands$$$. Well, I can dream. The front and reverse are off by 90 degrees also so if rare it might be worth something even in this condition. I did find one variety online that has something in the circled area. This one is scarce. Thanks for the replies.
