Can anyone id my mystery coin?

Found this at the base of the local sledding hill today The back side is worn completely smooth - smooth enough to make one think it was sanded down. I wonder if this is some quaint Chinese custom to file off the back of a coin? Oops..first I need to find out if it's Chenese or .....what? Any ideas folks?

Thanks for the link, Ivan. After looking at all those Chinese characters, my eyes start to cross and they all start to look alike. Without any details on the back it'a hard to narrow it down. I'll take another look tomorrow after a nights sleep. Thaks for the tip.

Indeed, it is a Chinese Cash. Looks to be from the emperor Ch'ien Lung, and dates from 1736-95. Not worth more than a few dollars, though, since this is probably the most common pre-twentieth century coin ever made (millions and millions were minted). Still, a cool find!

[size=large]someone posted a few months ago something to do with these old Chinese coins being part of old tradition. maybe a good luck token?
