I posted this awhile back and no one really knew what it was so I am including new pictures, I found this item along the Niagara river in Upstate NY this summer and I have tried posting it on a couple forums under the Whatzit areas, but no one seems to know what it is. It was found in the same general area where I also found a 1909 Lincoln penny and a 1910 Model T hubcap. It is really quite strange looking, almost like some weird alien symbol or something (although I don't think aliens landed on this planet until the early 1950's. Any help identifying this item would be appreciated.
Thanks, Carl

Hi all: I posted this on an other site also to see if anyone could help me figure it out and I just wanted to let you know that my mystery is solved...It is a 1922 shoe button cover

Unusual find. Always learning.

Somebody did a good job with the ID! I've seen the post awhile back and it had a lot of us stumped. Nice find BTW!

Yes, it had me stumped too. That was why I wanted to report back to let everyone know what it turned out to be. I am amazed at what I have learned since I started detecting, the ID'ing is half the fun for me. (Everyone loves a good puzzle, Right).
