hi all
i am new to this forum and must congratulate you on an excelant job well done .
anyway i am sorry to say my first post is a problem , i was heading of for my Christmas break tomorrow so i thought i would put my detector through its paces before i left .
all was well but then all of a sudden everything on the face panel started to flash and all i got was static here is a pic of it .
i turned of the detector and re powered it and all went well for a couple of minutes and then the problem returned .
just a constant flashing and static .
this is an emergency if anyone can help i will be very happy .
cheers diggertrev..

That looks & sounds like a voltage drop. At first there is enough current & voltage, but then a battery hits a knee & the detector becomes current starved. Fresh set of name brand non-rechargeable alkaline's is the first thing. Also look at the battery contacts with a flashlight, any dirt or corrosion?
