Can any of the GTI or GTP series of detectors be used without the Bell tone?

From what I've read, if you go into profiling on the 1350, then it's possible to hunt without it, but I'm not sure if that is practical.
Also, is there any video feed available on the net that one can view these detectors going through there paces?
Sorry guys. I really dislike the bell tone and it will affect my decision as to whether I buy a unit or not.

Hi Mick,
I've used the bi level tone on my 2500 with good results. It has low tone mid tone and high tone. I used it when in areas with nails and iron. I listen for mid and high tones mixed with the low iron sounds then I'll narrow my sweep and zero in on the high tone. Found a few keepers that way.

Press the menu button until you get to search aids, at default, the belltone will be on. Simply push the minus touchpad and the word belltone will flash, that means it's off.

Thanks moderndaywarrior and pizzacoil. Sounds simple enough. Sure wish I liked that noise, but it drives me to distraction at times! It's the only thing that I don't like about it. I'm a huge fan of it's elliptical coil because of the ground coverage and more especially the way it pinpoints! There is nothing like IT!!! It even puts most, if not all our $2 coins in the same notch as our $1 coins! On the X-Terra 30, they come in at 2 different notches! which means that we've gotta dig twice as many screw caps! If I'd thought of it, I should have ordered a DVD of both the GTI and GTP from the local dealer before he went on holidays.

I feel that it is a big plus to turn it off if you hunt in the
" NO DISC" mode in trash as I frequently do. Saturday night I was hunting@ 1870's trash pile that had quite a few flat buttons that ID'd around ZP to a few clicks below. (same place as little 1/2 reales in May)
Turning belltone off enabled more clear definition as the detector was fighting belltone one way and two clicks below in the other.
I wish that all the people who say that Garrett
have no target seperation ability in trash were with me Saturday.
I was getting a constant machine gunning of iron and pulling out the
good targets.
There are some good targets that will beep in both directions in
NO DISC but only heard one direction in RELIC.I think that it is due to slight masking,on edge and all the alloys and corrosion of relics. If you regularly hunt in relic or jewelry and are hearing a target one direction - drop to NO DISC and it may sound distinctly good.
