Can an R6 T2 be identified without opening the box?

Do they display the revision of the T2 on the label on the outside of the box? If so, anyone have an example what it looks like? I'm wondering how to pick the latest rev. T2 if I was looking at stack of boxed T2's.

highly recommended distributor, and I recommend his service after the sale as well!
P.S. Anyone selling the T2 sould be able to tell you if it's the the new Rev 6 or not!

...when mine was returned after the revision was installed. It features a spiffy-neat Mr. Cabellas Guy and a copyright on the box of 2005.

Maybe LilloEsquilo, Jeff or Mr. Bill can check their boxes for a clue. It's as likely all the boxes are the same as mine.

After revision, I also got my original machine back. It is identical in appearance internally to before the upgrade, and no chips were swapped that I could see. This means the upgrade was performed through external software download via a port on the main board. Thus, there's no visual clues that my T2 has the revision till it is powered up.

Once, powered up, as easy things to look for, an R6 T2 will have adjustable pinpoint sens and the new dP tone mode.

Rats! I was afriad of that. That there would be no label that says "T2 Rev. 6" on the box. I appreciate the responses, and would love to give my business to the provider of this wonderful forum, but... I have a one-time shot at a T2 at a nice price via a relative with an employee discount. (Hint: I'm in Nebraska) So, I'm sort of locked in to who'll be my supplier. I guess I've prety much spilled-the-beans at this point, so I'll wonder aloud... Hmm, how long will it take for the inventory at Cabelas to consist of Rev 6's? ;) The fact that I have $175 in gift certificates from my December birthday and Christmas (I had braodcast my "wish list" to family) is another reason I'm stuck with Cabelas.

Thanks all,
Paul

It might be they'll know when they received the shipment that's on the shelf. Whatever arrived after March 26 would be the new version. It could be they are aware of it, or could make a phone call and find out.

Ask to try it out before purchase and run through the tone modes, looking for the dP mode that comes up after 4-tone mode.

Buy it anyway, as the revision isn't critical or absolutely necessary and you have a 50-50 chance of getting the new one. If it's the old version, try it out and see if you'd like the added features, then return it for the upgrade. It'll cost $49, but since you're getting a good price, you may still come out ahead.

Ask how quickly stock is being sold and reordered, "how popular is this thing, anyway" sort of question. The new revision has only been out less than a month, perhaps waiting a few weeks would help assure it's new stock.

Talk a buddy into buying one and find out from him which one he got! But, that would be cruel! ;)

Lastly, we haven't heard yet if new units are being shipped in updated display boxes.

The only way to sneak a peek to see if it is an upgraded version would be to look at the manual. It will mention the dp tone in the tone information page if it is the upgraded version. You might be able to do that.

it was just an issue of extra cost.. I was surprised that they gave that reason, but that is what they told me when I asked them over the phone...... I once had a set of 1200.00 irons for golf that had no serial number. Un,handy if stolen.. The tek factor said they could tell by the internal parts though...Sonny
