Camlocks

Hi Folks,I would like your thoughts please.
Camlocks.Minelabs handbook, shows bottom one joining the upper and lower shafts with the camlock catch lever on the topside.
Is there a special reason for this?
I have always tucked it underneath as it looks much neater that way and it stops high grass, vines and low bush growth from catching in it.
Ps I have 2 Explorers and neither ones have developed any cracks, one is 2 years old and the other is 6 months old.Jerry.

Not sure it matters, I know I always had the cam locks down.. until I got the X1 probe which was installed on the opposite side, so I am forced to use it with cam lock up, havent had problems either way, but I also think it looked better with them down.....

The only thing i see is that they dont want the cam part aginst the cable side of the lower rod, just in case of binding on cable.

Thanks Gents, I will reverse it as your points make sense.Jerry.
