Anyways, still had a blast and got to familiarize myself with the 70!
I'm so doing this again!!!!:super:

BTW, I know it says that the stock coil is water proof, is it same with the HF 10x5"DD?

Thanks!!!!

There you go! Just don't let those steel core coins make you too crazy. They are a pain in the neck with any detector you use, and once they get a nick in the outer clad then the saltwater begins to eat them from the inside out, and they can read anywhere for an ID.

Which coils for the XT-70 are water proof? HH Dennis in Idaho

n/t

what would it take to seal these, would epoxy on the bottom take care of this, cannot believe a prospecting coil would not be water proof

The problem is that when submerged the pressure holding them down can cause them to warp and that is when they leak.

Hello Sead. I treat all coils as if they are NOT water proof even if they are supposed to be and make sure all is sealed before hand. I make double sure where the coil lead goes into the coil that it will not get water in and will even use a bit of silastic to make sure. I also seal all my coil cover with clear silastic so no dust or moisture can ever get in. Tape wears away too easily.
The only way to be sure of something is to be sure yourself.
Good hunting.
