Hi Tabdog, first off I want to say thanks for all your posts I really enjoy them. My question is - I have noticed you saying a few times about the Vaquero being slow. I was wondering what you mean by slow, I have a new Vaquero and haven't used it yet due to winter up here (upstate New York) and am guessing that you mean the Vaq. needs to be swung slow but thats just my guess. I do like a detector that can be swung slow over one that has to be whipped. Thanks TD! Steve.

I guess I didn't make my self very clear.

I was not referring to the discriminate mode.

What I was referring to is the no motion all
metal mode. When the field becomes
saturated, it automatically resets it self.
Older Tesoro's have a manual reset switch
or auto reset.

The speeds of the fresh rate, or the speed
that the MD resets it self, is different on
different models.

The refresh rate in the all metal mode of
the Vaquero is a little slower than the
Eldorado.

I personally feel that the faster refresh rate
works a little better in trash. But it is hard to
hunt in trash with the all metal mode. So it
doesn't make much difference in actual
performance. It is really a matter of application
and personal preferences.

As far as Tesoro's go, both the faster and slower
threshold based all metal mode's refresh rate's
work very well. Some people become confused
at first when trying to under stand what the MD
is doing when the MD becomes saturated resets
it self. I was first confronted with refresh rate 25
years ago. I kind of take it for granted.

I would not refer any Tesoro as slow. That is not
in Tesoro's nature.

HH,

Thanks Tabdog, as usual a great explanation. Very informative. Steve.

on the Eldorado uMax. The earlier units had a faster retune. Some didn't care for it and returned their detector for a modification which slowed it down. Personally I prefer the faster retune so I never had mine adjusted. It is a matter of personal preference I suppose.
