Called to Suffering

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

1 Peter 4:12,13 KJV

Ok, my brother, so lets put a little 'finer point' on this:

Vs 14 tells what the main cause of the 'fiery trial' is being reproached for the name
of Christ. Vs 16 suffering as a Christian is the context.

Everything that we encounter during our lives that we do not like, things that go
wrong, things that we cause ourselves, or even things that others inflict on us, do
not always apply to verses 12 and 13.

Earlier on in the book, 1Pet 4:4 talks about us being spoken evil of because we don't
participate anymore in ungodly activity.

Always remember, if we are going to be persecuted and suffer wrongs, let them be
'quality' persecutions and sufferings, , , , namely for the name (identifying with) Jesus
the Christ. I told my pastor one time that I would go to jail if required, but, only I want
it to be 'quality' jail time for being a Christian, and not something stupid like getting
in disputes over lesser things ;-)

I am not persecuted and suffering for Jesus just because I am paying more for gasoline
than I used to . . . . BUT . . . if someone assults me at the gas station because I am a
disiple of Jesus, that is quality suffering.

Lets remember: The Bible is not a verse; it is a Book. Line upon line, precept upon precept.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the subject . . .
