Called Fisher

Flintstone

Well-known member
Well i called Fisher yesterday to see about getting the 5" coil bottom put on that was never glued on at the factory, and to have it checked out. well i was told short and sweet it can,t be fixed need to buy a new one. This is the first time i ever called fisher for anything, and got a bad response. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD WHITES, AND WAS TRYING FISHER BUT IF THIS IS THE HELP YOU GET FROM THEM I MIGHT NOT HAVE ANOTHER. I have always had good survives from Whites. I told Fisher that the coil had never been glued you can see that it is not pryed or scratched up that someone had opened it. I told them that it worked ok but just wanted to check i out. NO can,t be fixed, I told them i would do it myself, don,t need there help. Hope you Fisher guys have better luck at getting things fixed than i did. Flintstone

Dealth with the new and old Fisher with positive results however judging by posts on the whole relative the new Fisher it seems service after the sale service is not the same in many instances.
As far as Whites surely one of the best service after the sale ought to cover it...

Thanks Dan, I have had Whites for years, and if anything goes wrong they fix it. I had a pinpointer that i got with my MXT that i have had for 8 years, and i took the unscrewed the back by mistake and the inside came loose, i sent it to Whites they put it back together, put a new boot on the switch, sent it back with no charge. NOT EVEN POSTAGE. That is service after the sale. They can,t be beat, I just couldn't,t believe that Fisher did not even want to talk to me. All the said is it has to be replaced, Well if the CZ7a i have quits i will just throw it away. I will just glue the bottom back on and hope for the best. It seams to work OK. Hope this weather gets warmer so we all can get out and do some hunting. Talk to you later. Dean

Hi Jmaryt, Yes Whites will out do any other, even if you don,t ask. I have been reading alot about the Fisher CZs, I have had this CZ7a for about a year and didn,t hunt with it till late OCT. then i only got 2 or 3 hunts before it got to cold. I only used preset on it for i didn,t half read the manual. After getting nickles at 7" with the 8" coil, and they locked on every swing, I though hay this is a good detector. So now i have read the manual 3 times, and plan to use it all spring to see if they are as good as everyone said. If this works out like i plan i will buy a CZ3D next fall. I got the 5" coil to hunt in the trash, I have a old park that i have found Buffalo nickles, IH pennies, but the trash is so bad that even with the 8" coil it is a fight. If anyone has any help give me a yell,i can use all the help i can get. Thanks Dean

First and foremost learn to ground balance it with the bobbing method...makes sure the volume and sens. are at 10 so you can hear the audio well...after balance you can drop them to your spec's....unlike the newer CZ's which seem to max out at sens. 5 or so try to run at 6 or 8 if you can as long as you have a stable unit..above all swing slow for extreme depth and believe me it will get 10-12 inch silver dimes...Might want to google Mikes CZ page as its a bible for CZ users as Mike and myself have been using one model or another since 92...any questions or the like just holler Detectdan@msn.com

continue to use the "hockey puck" it's an "outrageous" coil for the junk!
cz's are nickle "killers"..always try to hunt with all tones so you can "hear" everything going on under the coil
less chance of masking!..and as dan pointed out, learn to use the "bobbing" method to balance the ground,
as it's more accurate!..good luck!

You got the right idea fix it and use it and when it come time to buy another detector you need to keep in mind how you were treated. You can see from my list of detectors that I am a Fisher guy, but that can change if the support stops.

Sorry to hear that. I have had a cz in my stable since my cz-6 in 1992 I believe.
My last communication with them was about my new CZ-21. I fired a few different questions at them and they seemed very helpful to me.

One of my concerns was that on my cz21...I had no red indicator light on it...and according to the manual...it was supposed to. It was just another way to let you know when you were over a detected target.
I thought I was sold an older model since the manual explained the function and showed the light.
What I found out from the tec person was that I had a newer model and they did away with the light on the newer ones. :detecting:
What I had was a manual that hadn't been updated yet.:)

If, when you called Fisher, you didn't talk to Felix (service dept) then you were stone-walled. Try again.

Frank

Hi Frank, No i didn,t talk to Felix, I didn,t think that just to glue the bottom back on and check it out make sure it was working right was a big job. But from now on i will ask for him. I am going to glue it myself. I seams to work ok. Thanks Dean

would definitely talk with felix first!!!!! i always shake my head when i see posts on bad service from fisher!!!! i have had great experiences with them!

Unlike many metal detector customer service seems like it depends who answers the phone as some of the operators lack the expertise to answer your questions. If you call and it seems like you are talking to a brick wall ask for a supervisor as thinking it over.... over the years have had good service with the old and new Fisher but in one instance was confronted with the brick wall and a supervisor well versed in their products quickly straigtened out the situation although small and I was a happy camper. So indeed you may have to talk to more than one person to get the service one expects from a major metaL detector manufacturer.

I was going to buy a fisher. Now I am having second thoughts

Hi Hungarian, This is Flintstone the guy that has the coil with on bottom. Please don,t let this stop you from buying one of the best detectors ever made. I just got a new worker or someone that didn,t know what they were doing. Most of the time if you ask for Felix he will get you fixed up. I just needed to let off steam. I should of call back but i will fix it myself. No big deal, i would of liked to had it checked out. But Fisher makes a very good detector, try one and you will see they will take care of you. Flintstone

yes!..go slow with the 5" coil, and dig all nickle to foil bounces!
any cz is a great coin shooter!

I too am considering a CZ-21 but if the customer service is not good , I'll look elsewhere myself ..... I'm leaving another companes products behind SPECIFICALLY because of SLOW customer service and faulty products .......The problem is NOT that a company has a problem or two with certain models .....The problem is how they DEAL with the problem !!.....Anything can go wrong with ANY detector , but if the company can't fix it in a timely fashion , or refuses to , and has UNeducated people answering their phones , it's time to look elsewhere ..... I don't care HOW good the product is when it's working ....It's WORTHLESS when it's broken !!..... Too many of these bigger companies get cocky with their products and think that they will always have customers because they make the latest and the greatest machines..... They're in for a RUDE awakening from THIS customer !!....... Jim

BTW ...I just had a problem with a new AT PRo ....Garrett picked up the machine on THEIR DIME , and fixed it , and had it back to me working fine , all in under 2 weeks time from the time it left my house !!...... Now THAT is service !!.... Jim

Hi Jim, This is the first time i had to call Fisher. They make a very good detector, they last for ever but if something goes wrong you do like to have good service. The coil was almost new, i think it is ok ,but the bottom was not glue on at factory. You could see no glue, i glued it myself no trouble, i just wanted it checked out. Can,t believe he said it can,t be fixed, just like he wanted to sell a new coil. That's OK i got it glued seams to work ok,so on with detecting. Flintstone
