Callback on the F-70 ..was there a post a few minutes ago??????

I'm new to this . My wife gave me a Discovery 2200 ( Radio Shak ) 2 weeks ago and I've enjoyed it on the beach where we live , however it gives alot of false alarms in damp sand . Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should get next ? I don't want to find anything specific and I like the screen that tells me what metal is giving the signal and how deep it is . I want one that is good on salty sand and not overly expensive . Opinions are appreciated . Thanks, Kent

Do you use yours on the beach and in black sand . I really like it except for the false signals in black sand . Thanks, Kent

There was a post on here momentarily about a possible callback due to a software problem, but apparently someone had it removed quickly. Perhaps the poster was referring to the situation referred to in Mike Scott's post in the string above. You weren't seeing things --- I saw it too.

I saw it too. If I remember correctly, it was BarnacleBill that posted it. Don't know why it was removed as there does seem to be a software glitch that has been corrected, and available from the factory.

just like a GPS I purchased last week, a Navigon 5100. In four days time I have found three MAJOR software bugs, and I guarantee Navigon Tech Support is NOT enjoying the little telephone visits we are having. And I can also guarantee that I'm going to post THOSE bugs on the larger GPS forums! Because my advice to anyone is to NOT buy any Navigon products until they get their heads out of their butts and vastly improve their software testing protocols!

Will the advertiser supported GPS forums appreciate my posts, probably not, but I will make the posts so that potential end users understand what they are in for by buying that product. If I knew two weeks ago what I know now, I wouldn't have selected a Navigon product, or I would have waited for the bugs to be worked out.
