Calibration for a 2500?

I read an article not too long ago about occasionally calibrating machines as they grow older. It's probably my imagination, but it seems sometimes that my 2500 is not as accurate in tone ID, size and depth as it once was. Do you folks think it could use recalibration. It's about seven years old and has been through the wringer over those years...lots of hot days, cold days, some rain, lots of blowing dust. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,

I have sent my metal detector in and had it tuned up. I think it makes sense. Like an old car get it Tuned up and they run better. Get her ready for the season.

Digital circuits function like switches either on or off with no in between. The old analogue circuits have small potentiometers on the circuit boards for making small factory adjustments to the circuitry for optimum tuning of the circuit (similar to inside radios). Maybe there is some small capacitor trimmers in digital detectors to "tune in the coil" or xtal trimmers for the processor i am not sure but i bet theirs not much that can be adjusted inside a digital metal detector.

I don't know how or what they do on a recalibration, but I sent my 2500 in a few weeks ago and Mary said they recalibrated it. I was having trouble discriminating out unwanted signals. Anyway, it came back and worked much better. I got it back the same week I sent it in also! Their customer service is super! Jim
