calibrating Digisearch with the S-1 probe.

I was wondering if the S-probe is activated, can the Minelab 180 Digisearch be calibrated with the tip of the S-1 probe.
Just a random thought as it seems that if a meter could be calibrated reliably by waving that silver quarter in front to the probe which is mounted under the arm rest. That 180 meter reading may be attained much quicker than throwing the quarter on the ground and adjusting with the coil.

thanks
Jason

The reason for the calibration control is for when you switch coils you can adjust the calibration for that coil. Now with the S-1 if you adjust it for 180 using the probe and switch to the coil a good coin will read a higher number that what you calibrate using the S-1.
There is also a way to do this when you first turn on the Sovereign and away from any metal as it will always start out with 125 I beleive it is, but not sure as I dont use this method if it is calibrated for 180.

You would not save any time because you would find that you would have to recalibrate when you switch to the main coil.

Turn it on, turn the sensitivity down or to auto. Wave a coin over the coil a few times, adjust the meter to 180.

Ching ching......tweek......go. that easy.

Or just tune your 180 meter to -506 when it "resets" once in a while. It's more prone to re-setting when you are pushing the sensitivity, so sometimes I'll crank up the sensitivity a bit just so the meter resets so I can tweak it into the -506 to -507 range. I prefer raising it to where it just click to -507, as then silver coins will go 181 here and there on you. If you tweak it just right you can have a clad quarter go 181 too, while clad dimes will stay at 180.

should I wear a tinfoil hat?

lol. I am making it harder than it is.

Thanks for the reply
