Does anyone just specifically hunt for caches and buried gold?Do you think most legends are just that or havs anyone heard of people finding gold caches?

There have been many caches found. I found a small one years ago. My buddy Ken Weinman ( a writer ) wrote a story about a train robbery in New Mexico in the 1800's where the loot ( $40,000 in paper money and silver dollars ) was buried by the robbers before they were caught. Two guys from Texas who used to live in that area read Ken's article and decided to hunt for the loot. They spent nine weekends driving up from Texas and searching for the loot and finally found part of it - the silver dollars. I have one of the dollars from that loot that Ken gave me.

A short time ago I posted one of my articles about Frank Fish one of the greatest treasure hunters of all who had his own museum full of his finds. If you go back a bit in the archives you can find that article. Trouble with found caches - not many are advertised.

but they do other MD'ing also. There's a MD'ing club in Cincinnati that has supposedly found some of General Morgan's plunder. Do research and keep it quiet. I don't know if it's true but some will put a coffee can inside a coffee can to let others know that the treasure has been recovered.

Bill,
I read your article on Fish. Man that guy lived and breathed treasure! I would like to have the time, money and brains to go across the country looking for treasure! It's hard enough to travel 20 miles to hunt for an hour!!

My brother in Florida just found a cache about 2 weeks ago. I made a post about it. Here is a link. I am still waiting for him to send pictures, his computer is broke.Kids Vintage Coin Cache

It was in the basement of my sister-in-law's deceased father. There were 127 Morgan's and Peace dollars, some Walkers and a bunch of Mercs in an old tin box. I also found a "cache" of 16 Wheaties from 1914 to 1929 buried in a ladies compact. So the term "cache" is open for interpretation.

The only caches I have found so far are the ones I go after with my GPS receiver. I'm also into Geocaching.........
