Cache...well...mini cache

Hey everyone! What a day! I've always read Lost Treasure Magazine, and stories of caches etc. Well, never in a million years did I think I'd discover one myself. Although not a huge cache, it was amazing! Man my heart was racing!
I hit my usual spot, however this time I was armed with a map in hand from 1891, showing the area back then. This map was actually a drawing of the area by someone. It showed the location of a couple old roads and houses. I managed to find the old road (now long gone) and from there located the site of an old house.
A guy I just met here, and myself, hit this spot last night. I came up empty handed pretty much. No coins. He on the other hand landed an 1837 penny, and an 1890 penny.
Anyhow, I went back today and hit the same area. After half an hour, I got a nice signal. I dug down 4", and wouldn't you know it. I scrapped up (literally) and 1884 large cent. I was pretty happy at that point. However, it got better. 5 feet away, and not 2 mins later, I got a very strange signal on my detector. It was jumping from penny, to dime, to nickel, to dollar. All were good tones though, so I decided to dig it. This time I was careful. I dug down 3", and used my vibraprobe. It went nuts. Brushing the dirt with my finger, a coin appeared. I flicked it out with my finger and out popped another 1884 penny. To my astonishment, where it had been, lay another coin. In total, I popped out 5 coins that were literally stacked right on top of each other!! WOW! One 1884 large cent, a copper coin larger than that which I can't read. A beautiful 1877 seated liberty dime from the U.S. A great (but worn) 1874 canadian dime. And last but not least, an 1890-H fishscale in beautiful condition! What a day.
To make this story even stranger. There is a pic I tried to zoom in on where you can see remnants of newspaper on a coin. This was on a couple of them. Then I remembered, my buddy's penny from last night was also covered in newspaper!!
To top it off, about 10 feet away I found this little cache of thimbles. All in the same hole, and plugged with newspaper!! Sorry for the long post, but I'm excited as can be. Enjoy the pics!

And I really want to add to your story and it's kinda weird.
A while back you dug a 62nd Regiment button. My next hunt I dug a 62nd Regiment button.
You posted your cannon ball? Well today I found a 6 pound cannon ball.
So you say cache huh! I was going to post what I have just said and was going to tell you to find something great! Well you did so I guess it's my turn!

And excited you should be. Great find. It's always a blast to come across a cache no matter what size.

I'm hooked alright! *haha* Ah yes, the 62nd regiment buttons. I can add to that strangeness I found another 62nd regiment button just like it last night. In fact, I have 3 of them now. Wish I'd dig something different *hah* I hope you find your cache. Send some of your war of 1812 buttons my way

Wess youre killin me man Ive been searching and searching and only found two silver dimes and 3 Indian Heads...Oh and a few wheaties...
Great finds and Im happy for you. But cant you send some of that luck my way?

this came at a much needed time. My confidence was starting to slide a little after such a long period with no old coins. *haha* I can't help but think there is more there buried in the ground. I wish I knew who hid it there. Did I mention I love my 550? *haha*

Keep plugging away, the finds will come. The 550 is a great little machine. It loves rings.

but it would appear C.C. is getting all my luck Keep at it my friend. All it takes is one sweep

My heart would have be flying also. Recently I found a spill of 30 memorial pennies. Because they were on top of each other several where shiny and new looking. I thought, wouldn't it be great to find some large cents and old coins piled on top of each other. Where they touching? Where any in better than normal condition? Nice finds........Rich

and plus some

Hi Rich. I'd like some of your luck as well. Was it not you who found all the spanish coins!? Yes, the coins were all touching. No dirt betweenthem. Stacked right on top of one another. Some are well worn, and obviously circulated a while before being buried. A couple are in beautiful shape, while some are rather rough looking. I believe, and don't quote me on this as I'm not a metalurigist (spelling?), but I think the different types of metal and the newspaper as well, caused a reaction between the coins. The one side of one of the dimes is an off white. Doesn't even look silver almost. Strange.

Yeah, that was me. I'm in Maine right now. Left from MA at 5:00 this morning. I am heading out to the fields in 10 minutes............I hope I find a tall stack..............good luck .... Rich
