cable problem

I have seen some techinal posts here so I'm sure someone can help me. I have some broken wires at the connector to my control box. I would like to know the best way to fix them. The orange wire only has a couple threads left. I have fixed wires that are not soldered but these look soldered. Can I just pull the connectors off or do I have to buy a soldering gun? Also wondering if I can get connectors this small at Wal-mart or do I have to go somewhere else. Not even sure how they are identified (by size?) That would be helpful to know too. Guess I am electrically illiterate:)
Thanks for any help

They have to be soldered. Use a pencil with small rosin core electronic solder.

Walmart and Radio shack do not have the connector. Rick posted connector source info once, but have forgot it.

First off like Art says it will have to be soldered, next is you can reuse this connector as it looks OK other than the wire has to be soldered back on. If you don't want to do it yourself you can take it to any electronic repair shop like a TV repair and ask them to repair this connector. If you think you want a new connector than I cant find them around here in any Radio Shack here, but you maybe can there, but here is where I got mine from and believe it is the 5 connector one. These are CB radio mike connectors or microphone connectors.

What wires go to which terminals, anyone with a soldering gun and a little expertise can do it..Years ago when I hipmounted everything I just walked into a TV shop several times and they were professionally solder and tested in a few minutes for a few bucks and I did several times as hipmounting can put a strain on the connector. As far as the connector itself can be used over and over. I know an applicable connector can be had as its used in other fields, but just don't remember where..

You might try Thomas Distributing, and look under microphone parts.

good move bruce. i also read somewhere but cant remember now that spraying electra clean on the connections really helped stablize any problems you might be have with coils. im going to start doing that.
