Cabela's Treasure Hunter 2

NEBHUNTER

New member
I purchased a Treasure Hunter 2 (which is identical to the Bounty Hunter Gold) and subsequently purchased a DD coil that is compatible with the Gold/Titanium/Platinum models. It worked fine for about 3 months(everything displayed fine on the screen) However now it seems to be losing the ability to give a correct depth. I marked a target that it said was at 8 inches (every which way I crossed over it, didn't budge from 8in) I popped the plug and checked the hole, nothing. Checked the plug and found a 1903 Indian Head Penny at about 3 inches down from the top of the plug. I shrugged it off. After the past couple days it has constantly been off (marking targets at 5 inches that are barely in the dirt, Penny's are showing as Dimes/Quarters at 6 inches) Has anyone else had issues using an aftermarket coil on a BH or do I have a detector that is going bad? Could it be the coil? I really don't want to go back to the Cocentric coil (the precision of the DD is unbelievable, pinpoints like a dream with the toe or heel). Is there a better model I should upgrade to? Ditch it completely and go with a AT Pro or Etrac? Thanks for any input/suggestions!
