C$ vs 1270

From what I've read, the 1270 is a silent sleeper machine. I mean you just don't read much of anything about them on the forums. I've been around Fisher machines for a while and they have been a favorite. I've owned a couple in the CZ line up, have owned the Excel and two Coin$trikes. And getting to the 1200 series, I've still got a 1265 and had a 1266.

The C$ is by far my favorite. I had to get a replacement for the first one that I use to have. The CZ machines weren't good for me. In our dirt here they fared similar to how some other machines have fared...they read coins and other higher conductive items as iron in the ground. If you reject iron...you pretty much reject everything else. Just the way the CZs run here...digital and analog, notch and knob disc. The Excel was an alright machine. It didn't get the depth on some deep bullets like the C$ but it can hold its own. Matter of fact in the dirt here it ran better than the CZs. And then there are the 1265 and 1266 machines. As similar as they are...I liked the 1265 better. Especially once we put a 8" spider on it.

But that said...it has been quite a while since I have used a 1200 series machine. I've had alot of other machines since then but I was talking to a guy the other day. He is in a club in North GA and he says alot of the guys down there are using the 1270 and that "nothing goes as deep as a 1270". Being as the C$ is not very popular by some...and I have seen its incredible power and capability...I was wondering from those who have used both....are they about equal in depth or is there a noticable difference??

I believe what makes the C$ so great here is the independant iron disc....something all the other detectors I've used do not have.

Starting with the last part first, the 1270 has a similar iron discriminate capability. I agree that it can be and is a great benefit. My experience with the examples of these detectors shows the 70 is deeper. Not night and day, but measurable. The dual full discriminators on the 66 MIGHT be a considered a small advantage when coin shooting but I prefer the total package of the 70's flexibility much more. You'll probably also really be able to utilize the manual GB on the 70. which I felt was a "miss" on the earlier 1200's. For the type of hunting you apparently do, the C$ and 1270 would be the ultimate 1-2 punch from Fisher. I know they're two detectors I couldn't part with unless they were superseded with a truly improved version.
