C&G BobCat Coil Question

Happy_Hour

New member
Will these coils work with the UMax or first Bandido models. I posted on another forum, I guess it was to hard of a question.

I've been detecting for 15 years or so and lurking on forums for at least 8 and I've never heard of C&G Bobcat Coils until now. As a heavy Tesoro user I'm thinking probably NO to your question.

The Bobcats are pretty old technology, I think a call to Tesoro would be the way to go.

............Have a look on the bay....Tom Cat---Bob Cat----Wild Cat up for sale.....After 15 years you still learn.

Relic hunter - you're right about still learning. Just about the time I figured I knew it all, I discovered I'd barely got started. As I've had no reason to punch in anything to do with any kind of cats, I've missed the listings on Ebay.

The answer is maybe

The C&G Bobcat is a 16.6 Khz machine.

If the Tesoro you try it on is close enough in frequency, (15Khz, 17.8Khz), it may work.

I tried a C&G Wildcat coil on a 12Khz Tesoro Silver Sabre II and it sorta worked, but was pretty screwed up.
The coil was detecting from the top and that is a dead zone on a stacked coil like found on a Bobcat or Wildcat.

Perhaps wiring it differently would be needed.

Good question for Keith Wills at "Broken Detectors" in Texas.

PS: I could really use a Bobcat user manual if someone could help me out.

Thanks
