C$ frequency info

jabbo

New member
I just talked to Dan at Fisher Labs and asked what is the frequency of the CoinStrike. He checked the schematic and called me back. He said the schematic shows single frequency 30 - 31 khz and the frequency is not proprietary info any more. I don't know, I always thought the frequency was around 6 - 7 khz. I also asked what is the extra wire for at the cable connector (the Edge cable doesn't have it), he said it's a jumper for the cable shielding. 30 - 31 khz? I still don't know what to believe.

I don't know for sure but that doesn't sound right, the C$ is set up mainly for coin shooting and 30-31khz seems to high. That sounds more like what the Goldstrike would run at.

Try the forum member DaveJ he is still hooked with Fisher I believe (employee that is).

I read one post that stated the C$ was a dual frequency, but I never found any other information to confirm that. (I'm pretty certain the C$ is a single frequency detector and because of its depth on small coin size targets I don't think its 30khz. My thinking is that's more of prospecting frequency then coinshooting???

I just checked in on the Gold Strike manual and found the below! (copy & Pasted)

Gold Strike
Frequency
Search .................................................................................................... 30 kHz

Now, you could contact them back and see if they will tell you what the frequency of the Coinstrike is and not the "Gold Stike"

Mark, 30khz for the GoldStrike makes sense. I think Dan looked at the wrong schematic. I will call Fisher again.

and told him he gave me the frequency for the GoldStrike, I want the CoinStrike frequency. He said both have the same frequency. I said "they Do?", he said yes. Now I'm more confused than ever.

Fisher employee. He said the GoldStrike is 30khz but he thinks the C$ is less than 10. For some unknown reason they are still keeping the C$ frequency the most closely guarded secret in the industry.

Check out an earlier message from Mr Bill in regard to the C$ frequency:

NEB, Thanks for the link. I believe Mr. Bill. Many of us have several detectors and it's good to know the frequency of each.

I had the Coin Strike and the I D Edge at the same time, and with the use of the CS-1 Sun Ray probe, the coils would interchange and work just fine...
Also, Sun Ray made a small 5.5" coil for the Edge and CS,,, one coil to be used on the Edge and CS with the use of a short jumper cable.
With the jumper cable, you did not have to use the CS-1 probe.
Now the listed Freq. of the Edge is like 6.25 khz.
So, this make me think that the CS freq. has to be close to the Edge for them to interchange...
The Gold Strike with a freq. of 30 khz would be a big jump...

Now someone posted years ago,, wanting to know if the Gold Strike would be better for hunting Relics than the CS,,,and the answer posted by someone that had tried the GS for Relic hunting,,,,,he said that the GS picked real small pieces of rust that the CS would not....

So I don't think the CS is a 30 khz freq.

just my guess.

If you dig back through the archives, someone put the CS on a Oscope. It was 7 point something. 7.2 or 7.8 or something. It was a big deal at the time cause everyone was expecting a dual freq upgrade.

My Edge coils work fine on my C$. So the C$ most likely is about the same frequency as the 6.25khz Edge. Good point BJ. And the Oscope tells the truth too. Thank you.
