How not to be a "Dick" on the digger pages and forums.

When someone posts their find of the day. Give them the thumbs up or like or comment. It doesn't matter what the find is. If you like it and the person is your friend or not, say something.

Don't comment that you have one too or yours is in better condition or is two years older or was found as part of a spill. That's a dickhead move.

When you say things like welcome to the Fugio club or the club of any kind your just doing the same garbage as above.

Do not tell your story or post your picture on their post.

It’s a dickhead move.

Let the person have “Their Moment “

Want to post your find? Post it on your own post.

We will like it too.

Don't add people to groups without asking them first.

That's a dickhead move.

You invite people to pages or groups.

Try not to post your find of the day in 10 groups. You clog up all your friends feeds with the same post over and over.

If you ask a question take in all the answers and say thank you.

Don't argue with the answers.

When someone posts something looking for an ID look at the responses and put a like on the first right answer. We really don’t need another reply from you to confirm that it’s a parasol ring.

Metal detecting isn't a competition it really isn't. It's fun to pick on each other while detecting but if you can't be honestly happy for someone who finds something I don't want to be around you.

Remember what you're mom said. If you don't have something nice to say. Then say nothing at all OR Say to others what you would like to have said to you.

In person I have seen very few bad detectorists. There have been some. But online it gets a little poor sometimes.

We are Detectorists or Treasure Hunters and some

are Diggers. We are not Metal Detectors.

Get out there.

Don't hold back CT, how do you really feel? (I'm kidding here... probably out of guilt for some d***head posts I wish I hadn't made).

Seriously, this is a pretty great post and for my part very well received. I've for sure run off at the mouth thinking I know something I don't here on the forums. But, I've also learned some valuable techniques from people who see things differently.

Good gut-check reminder that the story belongs to the teller.

It does happen, it even happens to me. If I do add additional stuff to a post I will say “I don’t want to highjack your post”.

it happens - just admit it and move on,it’s a forum to make conversation.

Now here’s one - this forum is terrific, we help folks and folks helps us.
Thanks for the forums being there,
Tony
PS: sorry to hog jack your post but I couldn‘t resist

I can’t disagree with one word of it. I LOVE the “welcome to the …..club” thing. It very well could be changed to “Alright! You’re in the ….club!” But of course, that wouldn’t work for the purpose of letting the OP know that the respondent has ALSO found such an item, now would it?🤣🤣🤣
Its surprising how careful you actually have to be to avoid accidentally obtaining “dick status”….
