Buying Used T2 vs. F75

Hello
I am just getting back into detecting after 2 year or so layoff due to shoulder injury.
My arsenal right now is CZ-5 for coinshooting & 1236X-2 for relics
I have had much success in the few years I used the CZ-5 and like it fine but now it seems to be kinda heavy for me and my old shoulders.
And quite honestly I'm kinda tired of all the falsing in iron, I have to check all the end of swing falses which puts alot of extra wear and tear on my shoulders.
That being said, I'm looking to buy a used machine that is as capable as the venerable CZ-5.
My question is it worth the extra money for a used F75 over a used T2. and are there any pitfalls to look out for.
The F5 looks interesting also but it's kinda hard to to give up the (rock solid) quality of an old fisher for the plastic of First Texas Products.
I may try and keep the CZ-5 incase I don't like the new machine.
It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks

Thanks in advance for you advice
Jerry

I have no experience with the T2 and just a little with the F75, but I have read that they are very similar. The T2 is supposed to be a little better at relic hunting, and the F75 is supposed to be a little better at coins. I guess it depends on what you want to do, and what the price difference is.

T2 is one of, if not, the best Coin finding detector I have ever owned... I have had a few LOL......

Maybe it was the other way around, I can't remember. Either way it was close both ways. This is just from one source though.

At best it's a "toss up" between the two. I've had the T2 and liked it a lot. It worked equally well for relics and coins in my opinion.

I sold my T2 and now own a F75 because I found a good deal on a used one. It has a few more options which I like such as the backlighted display and, at the time I got mine, there were more coils available for it than the T2. However, that has since changed as there are a couple more coils made for the T2 today. The F75 does have notch and a few more tone options. But, like I said before, it's a "toss up". If I hadn't had found the good deal I got for my F75 I would probably be just as happy with the T2. They are both excellent units.

I also own a CZ-5 and it is much heavier than the T2 and F75. But the CZ-5 is a past proven winner for me and works well on the beach with it's dual frequency. I've saved it for that and for teaching other "newbies" as it "locks on" to targets so well. HH.

Like Elton, I currently have both the T 2 and F 75. Jerry, I swung a cz6 for many year's and then a cz3d before getting my F 75 two + year's ago now. My cz's are now long gone do to my results with the F 75. The F 75 is much lighter then your cz5 and while not built like a tank, mine has stood the test of 3000 + hours afield. And never has it had to go to the factory for a problem. As for comparing the T 2 and F 75, they are very similar. Both excell for coinshooting and relic hunting. There are a couple of features that the F 75 has that the T 2 does not and that I wish the T 2 did. Namely, saving last settings and the je mode. The je mode does actually pick up small gold that the other modes can miss. Both will go very deep. I had a situation crop up yesterday morning where I was able to compare both detectors on a deep target. From that one situation, I could say the F 75 has a little more depth, but won't just yet. The main thing is, both are excellent detectors and either would serve you well. Good luck and HH jim tn

I haven't actually tested coin, for coin with both units..I also very, very, rarely use the Je Mode... It's a little erratic in my soil.

hello!
you will be well served with the f-75!..spend a few more bucks and realistically be astonished at what this detector can do!..(really!)..i have had one fpr over a year now,and i can attest at what this detector is capable of!..forget the cz's thay are seriously outmatched by the 75!...go for it!.. and don't look back!..if you are like me i am getting up there in age so i dont give a flying f***!..about money!..get it done and go with the best!..you will NOT regret it!

The je mode is to hot for me on most trashy coinshooting sites, but I like it on ball fields where there is less trash and it does work for small jewelry quite good.

As far as the depth comparison, I had just firied up the F 75 a few yards from my SUV and got a very faint, but repeatable hit, one that I knew I would dig. As I had the T 2 along as well, I thought I would see how it would hit the target. I had the F 75 set up in de, disc. 6, sen. 85 and 3h tones. I set the T 2 up the same and each g/b at 64, fastgrab. The T 2 faintly hit the target, but not back and forth repeatable and the slight tone was broken and no vid readings. I then tried disc. 50, but with no better results. The numbers were bouncy on the F 75, but I saw a couple of 73's and 74's occasionally flash. It was thundering and lightening off in the distance, so I didn't try any other settings and dug the target. It turned out to be a 44 Merc. nearly on edge at the 8" mark on my Predator Little Eagle digger. On that one test, the T 2 was close, but not quite a cigar. I have, however, dug a couple of dimes with the T 2 that were a true 8." It just wouldn't hit that one that was nearly on edge, all that well. HH jim tn

Jim on that 44 Merc. on edge at the 8" I would've been curious what the F75 would have read in AT/AM mode ?

The T2 seems to have a little bit of edge on hitting coins more solid on 0 to 7"...... They hit hard, and ID solid..sometimes the F75 jumps around on the ID scale more... That's in my dirt..maybe it's totally different in someone Else's hunting area... either way both machines are awesome.. Both work well.Very well in fact. Thanks for filling us in on the details. Your expertise on the F75 is outstanding.

Elton, thanks, but I don't consider myself an expert with the F 75. This can be a pretty humbling hobby. I am fortunate that I can hunt for a while daily and the old adage about the blind pig and acorn works for me. About the time I start to conclude that one detector may have a slight edge over the other in some small way, I get proven wrong the next outing. All I can say is it wonderful to have two great detectors. I wouldn't be unhappy with one or the other. HH jim tn

I talked to a member of my Medal detecting club tonight. He has had his F75 for a couple months and he said he was still learning it.
Anyway, He said that he was having trouble with steel bottle caps with his machine. He is digging alot of steel bottle caps and hasn't figured out how to avoid them. He was using an X-5 before, so I'm guessing it's a completely different beast to him

Are any of you guys having trouble digging alot of steel bottle caps or is there an upgrade that solved this problem. If you know any tricks let me know and I will pass them on to him. But he told me not to buy one until they have this problem solved.

He is a much more experienced detecotist than me. .

the F 75 actually has a mode (bc) specifically for aiding in the id of bottle caps, which works quite well. This is one of the modes that comes with all F 75's and is not, nor has there been, any kind of bottle cap upgrade. The manual also devotes a good bit of space to the subject. Although, even with a good many hours behind my F 75, I occasionally still dig an old rusty bottle cap, especially those that have acquired some depth, in time, one can learn to id the vast majority of them via tone and vid. Neither sound and vid are quite as smooth with a bottle cap as they are with a coin. HH jim tn

Your Screen will tell you the Digi number of the detected iron cap.Hopefully It SHOULD fall under 18 telling you its rubbish.
If it isn`t can you give out the Digital number, the Iron cap IS giving out ?

Our bottle caps mostly hit in the coin range, usually high dime up to quarter readings. Usually they are bouncy and don't lock on well, but many do sound pretty darn good. HH jim tn

I liked the F75 way better then the T2 it was more like the CZ3D that I had that is the F75 more ways to program and it just felt right from the start.

Ok , thanx. i wasn`t aware of that issue. Here in the UK we don`t get many iron type bottle caps to contend with. I don`t know why, as before the Plastic types we had the conventional pressed steel type bottle caps as attatched to such bottles as Coca Cola ,etc, etc.
