Buying an Ace 250

AndyIreland

New member
OK i'm planning on buying the Ace 250 within the next couple of days off ebay, and i have a couple questions :)

Is there only one type of Ace 250? I hear people talking about the Ace 250 deluxe etc(i presume thats just the same but with added accessories)?

Is there any reason i shouldn't buy the Ace 250?

Any tips/pointers?

Thanks

My own experience is that stock coils are normally the right size for most hunts. Sniper coils are very useful in trashy areas or areas within range of metal (playgounds, fences, sidewalks, foundations, junked cars whatever.) Large coils give slightly more depth and more coverage. I only find my useful in wide open spaces with very little trash or for relic hunting. I find pinpointing with the larger coil a challenge. You have to be very precise. There is reason to have both a larger coil and a sniper coil in your arsenal but if I had to choose one I'd take the sniper. The Ace 250 deluxe pack comes with the larger coil.

My first modern detecor was an Ace 250 and it is an amazing machine for the price. There are thousands of posts extolling it's virtues on this forum. There are videos (posted again only yesterday) to help you learn how to pinpoint and detune. I found almost 700 bucks with mine in 3 1/2 months. It took me about 7 days to get pretty good with it.

Check out the classified section of this forum, you might find a deal.

There is only one type of Ace250. You can get a large coil for it, a 9x12 and the sniper coil.
The only reason that you shouldn't buy this detector is, if you don't want a good unit.:poke:
There are a tonne of tips on this forum if you want to take the time to read them; however, I would suggest that you practice with it at home for a bit just to get familiar with how it responds with different targets. Just place them on some ground with no metal in it. Not just coins, but junk and some jewellery as well. Ignore the pinpointing method mentioned in the manual fir now, and use the 12 o'clock position of the inner coil as your hot spot. there is a video link to how to do this, posted on this forum only in the last few days. well worth a look.
good luck .

P.S. The Sniper coil is ideal, if you hunt on ground that has a lot of trash in it, or if you want to hunt around play equipment, as it gets in very close with it. With the pinpoint button held in, closer than any other coil that I've ever come across.

The deluxe is just a 250 with extra accessories. No reason in the world not to buy the hottest machine on the market.

you may be better of looking on Amazon to buy your ace 250 i bought mine of them its allot cheaper than on e.bay
cost me

I consider the sniper coil a "must have" if you really want to get
the most bang fer buck out of the machine.
It's a totally different coil, and makes the 250 feel like a totally
different machine. In a *good* way too..:wiggle:
I like the 9x12 coil, but I think I'd buy the sniper first
before getting the 9x12 unless you really have a reason to
go deeper, or sweep wider paths. IE: big fields, etc..
I've never seen a single person that regretted getting the sniper
coil. Not a single one..
The 9x12 can be handy, but it's exactly like the stock coil,
only bigger.. So not as much a difference in the machine
operation, except for 2-3 inches more depth, and a bit
wider swath. For most average coin plinking depths, the stock
coil is big enough. I tend to use the 9x12 as a "relic" coil
more than anything.
In my lowly opinion, the 250 is the best machine in it's price
range, hands down. You can't go wrong. It finds the metal.
Yea, I'm a bit biased as I own one, but if it was a dog, I
would be the first to say so.

No reason that I can think of.
Make sure you get the 4.5 sniper coil and an extra rod. The extra rod
makes changeing over a snap.

Have fun. Thats what its all about.

RR:lol:

i got the ace 250 i bought it new off ebay for $250.00 a few years ago it came with 2magazines trawl carrying case headphones pouch root cutter knife a pouch for the knife and trawl all the stuff total was like more than 300.00 to buy separate i don't got the sniper coil and i think mine did come with the longer coil the only thing you gotta watch out for is the pin pointing its a great detector for the price

I have one, impossible to be wrong on this one. Light-weight, accurate, pinpointing is easy. Just learn your sounds and pratice. This is one fun hobby, if you have the time and places to hunt. Happy Hunting and Good Luck.
