Buying a used AT Pro, how should I test it?

Hey all, I've been metal detecting for a few years now and finally got the money to upgrade to a good machine. I'm buying one used off of Craigslist and the guy says it's like new and he's only had it for a few months.
How do I test it to insure it's functioning properly? I've used a friend's before but haven't had much experience with the Pro.

Tighten the coil connections to the box, lift the coil off the ground like 3 ft and shake it, if you here static coming from the speakers or headphones, bad coil, but if its only a few months Garrett will send you a new one, good luck

the warrenty is transferable if its less than 2 yrs old, call garrett for details. If u choose to use it in water get some silicone grease from a hardware store or plumbers silicone from lowes to lubricate the battery door o rings, coilconnecter, and headphones o rings also. I usually run mine in pro zero with iron disc set at 35. If it's real trashy then disc out some of the trash. I've had good luck in the 38(small chains) to rings&most nickles and many rings(small gold). Usually set the sensivity at 2 blocks short of max,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to test it this Sunday and buy it if everything is in order. I'm so excited to join the AT club!

What IS your primary machine? Inquiring minds...

My MAIN machine is the Almighty French machine
w/9" coil. Own an 11" coil but the 9" coil just has
great separation. This machine is just so versatile
for different sites and easy to program. Audio is
everything with this machine in THICK Iron!!! JMHO
