wrong way ron

New member
Have the MXT right now looking to buy the DFX. What do you guys think??? I hunt for coins and jewerly more that anything else. Nothing wrong with MXT just want a new machine.:surprised:

That's exactly what I did last year I was using XLT nothing wrong with it but bought the MXT to use for this year.
One thing about using the same brand of detectors is the batteries are compatible and the learning curve are easier.
I really liked the XLT and have kept it as my backup detector.
When I bought the XLT it was that one or the DFX.
I decided to go with the XLT by what was discussed on the forums and by the comments of some of the club members who use it here.
Have no regrets with the choice.

You might want to by-pass the DFX and consider the V3 if you are moving up from the MXT. Depth is almost the same with the MXT and DFX and you would be moving from one of the easiest to use to one of the most difficult detectors to master. The V3 is state of the art Vs. the 10 year old technology of the DFX. The V3 has a couple of inches depth advantage for most users and the preloaded programs are great compared to the mediocre programs on the DFX. The list goes on and on. If Gold jewelry is a goal, the 22.5 KHz frequency of the three frequency V3 is prime. The V3 should be a no brainer.

Thanks guys for all of your support. Monte in the MXT forum your right I am very happy with the MXT so I went out and bought another one. Old MXT will go to Mom and brother mom always wanted one. I have always like the easy uses of the MXT so I pick up the MXT 300 Is the coil any good I also have the 950, 5.3 eclipse and the 10" 2D coil which coil would you use on the new machine I'm leaning toward the 10" 2D coil.

Beautiful weather and my birthday so I took the day off to get some detecting in. I also had some research to do before the weekend but there is a tilled parking strip & yard and a long vacant (and very trashy) lot here in town that I've been picking through.

For me, I like the larger Double-D coils for coverage when working open areas with low trash. The same goes for the 12" coil. I have the White's 10" D[sub]2[/sub], a 10X12 SEF, and the stock 12" coils for those rare times I want or need a larger-than-stock coil. To be honest, for the types of hunting I do and the sites searched, larger coils are seldom used. This includes the 950, however I do have a place for a 950.

My present 2-detector battery that lives in my van is an XL Pro with the stock 950 mounted on a spare rod, and the 6
