Buying a house that was built in 1939...

Don't blame you one bit! I hope it has a nice big yard.

I kid you not, Ive said this before, if I won some massive lottery, I would buy up very old estates just so I could detect them, then would resell them. Hope you find silver and other goodies there. Good Hunts, CO

Best of luck gearhead, hope you can post some good finds.

Those were the silver coin years.
Hope you do well.

Thanks for the kind words. I should be closing on it before the end of next month, will let you know if I'm able to pay it off with my finds. Ok, back to reality...

Hi gearhead, sounds like you have some good potential going on there. To heighten that potential you might do some land record research into ownership/plats/maps etc and come up with some even earlier history than what you already know.Years ago I was told by an elderly Lady that where my side yard is there was a house there in the 30's, and another in the cow pasture across the road. She had visited the people living in the house when she was a little girl. Since then I have dug stuff from my yard that may indicate a place that would have predated the 30's place by several years. You just never know, but then sometimes we learn something a little extra that adds even more potential.HH, Charlie

Found out the subdivision was old farmland up until 1918, the houses next door were built in 1921 and 1924. Would LOVE to find some old large silver.
