I would like to buy the se. where do I get the best
deal?

I bought mine from Ralph at Sun Ray with the Sun Ray x-1 probe already installed. That's something that just about any person on this form will tell you to buy, that X-1 probe is the bomb, in fact if Sun Ray offered a money back guarantee on their probes, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that would take them up on it. If Sun Ray offered me double my money back on my X-1 probe, I wouldn't take it, couldn't imagine using a detector without it and wouldn't want to. Search for posts on the x1-probe and you'll see what I mean. But back to Ralph at Sun ray, this guy's a straight shooter, and is probably one of the best detectorist in the business, he not only sells you the machine but helps you learn how to use it, answers all your dumb questions as if it's the first time he's ever heard them. The SE is pretty frustrating for the first month or two, but after that, it all clicks and you become super detector man with your trusty sidekick the unfailing, ever amazing Mine lab SE. But because that first month or so you are frustrated and confused trying to learn that machine it is so very important that you have an accessible, knowledgeable person to help you, and Ralph was a big help to me, not just for the basics, but also for the advanced techniques that mean the difference between finding shallow clad or finding the deeper, older, more valuable targets that are just way more interesting and allot more fun to find. Give him a call..Ralph at Sun Ray (319) 636-2244 and good hunting to you.

Digitrich,

You 100% correct. Ralph is one straight-shooter and a real nice guy. He has taken my call more than once for a simple Explorer question. Not only does he answer the question, he goes on to explain thing further. I also highly recommend him as a vendor.

PS. I wouldn't take triple my money back for my X-1 probe.

Yep, all research I did shows everyones price the same.
Where you get a deal is in the extras you get with your detector.
I got an Exp SE 10" coil, an extra 8" dd coil, cover, and
nice digging tool with sheath.

I got my Explorer SE form Kellyco,

if that 1937 is your birthday, you'd had better go ahead and get the sun ray 8 inch coil as well cause the stock ten's a little big and heavy at first. The eight inch is lighter and way easier to learn the SE on, my ten inch was great at the beach but 95% of my swinging inland is that eight inch cause there is just too much crap in the parks to use a ten, too many targets good and bad show up at the same time under the bigger coil that comes with it unless you are at some barren area or beach. You take a guy, who's used the machine a gazillion times, he now hugs his wife with only one arm because he feels like he's still swinging his SE that he put down over an hour ago, you know, one of these lucky guys who get to do it every day unlike us poor working schleps. Well any way' that guy can use a ten or twelve inch coil because he can separate targets with his coil control and his knowledge of the different tones, so it doesn't matter he's being bombarded with lots of different signals all at once because he's not just now learning the tones, he knows them, so he can process them quicker, good and bad, just as fast as they come. AND you will too, someday, and someday gets here quicker if you start with a smaller coil. It's like hooked on phonics for the SE.:poke: oh, by the way if you had another Mine lab prior, the SE still takes some adjusting to by you and your previous "knowledge". Do you believe the word schleps was in the spell checker? :rofl:Now is that funny or what.....AHHH what you know from funny, anyway.
