Can anyone help us identify these buttons. The family that has the smaller one thinks it is a civil war button?? The larger one...not a clue. We thought there might be someone out there who is up on buttons. thanks.
 
You guys are so helpful can I ask a couple of more questions. First what book or books do you rec. for finding buttons?? ie history of.
And any idea about the first button, ? the lady had a note with it that said it was her great so and so from the civil war?? I didnt think it looked that old. ?
I found the second one in Buffalo Wy in a park .
